Write a sales proposal with Claude: scope, options and a worked pricing example
By Dorian Laurenceau
To write a sales proposal with Claude, begin with a validated client brief. A proposal should make the deliverables, conditions and next decision clear. Persuasive language cannot repair an undefined scope.
Our fictional agency offers a workshop and three adapted procedures to a small team. Amounts illustrate arithmetic only; they are neither LearnIA prices nor suggested market rates. References were checked on October 14, 2026.
Convert notes into a reliable brief
List the stated need, audience, desired outcome, constraints and unanswered questions. Separate the client’s words from your interpretation. “We have ten salespeople” does not establish that everyone needs the same training.
Ask for three columns: confirmed, awaiting confirmation and provider proposal. An undisclosed budget must remain unknown. A desired deadline should not become a delivery guarantee until you have checked capacity and dependencies.
Follow your company’s rules when sharing real client material. Use fictional examples for initial tests. A Claude Project can organize reference files and instructions, but it does not make every document appropriate to upload.
Define deliverables and exclusions
In the example, the offer includes a two-hour workshop, a PDF handout and three adapted procedures. Specify the input examples, participant count, document format and approval process. Replace vague promises such as “complete optimization” with observable work.
| Scope item | Fictional example | Clarification |
|---|---|---|
| Procedures | Three meeting-record procedures | Format and expected length |
| Workshop | Two hours for ten participants | Remote or in person |
| Revision | One consolidated review cycle | Named person consolidates feedback |
| Exclusion | No CRM integration | Visible in the scope section |
Exclusions should be easy to find. A reader should not need to reach the fine print to discover that a requested integration is absent.
Make options and calculations explicit
Offer alternatives tied to real decisions, such as workshop only versus workshop plus adapted procedures. Show the additional deliverables and prerequisites. Three almost identical tiers add complexity without helping the client choose.
The fictional workshop costs €600 and adaptation costs €300, giving €900 before tax. A 10% discount applying only to the workshop is €60, so the revised total is €840. Applying the discount to the entire offer would give a different result and contradict the stated terms.
Recalculate amounts outside the generated narrative. Keep optional lines separate from the base total. Use your approved commercial template for applicable taxes and contractual provisions; do not ask the assistant to certify their legal validity.
Write a proposal that supports a decision
Use a short need statement, followed by scope, deliverables, timetable, price and points awaiting approval. Distinguish the desired business outcome from the work you commit to produce.
Do not invent testimonials, customer references or productivity gains. Where evidence exists, include its context and limitations. Otherwise describe the method and an acceptance criterion. “Three procedures reviewed and approved” is verifiable; “sales will double” does not follow from this workshop.
Draft a precise commercial proposal
Prepare your instruction here. This module sends no data to a model: copy your brief into your chosen tool.
View the starter instruction
From the supplied brief, draft a proposal with need, scope, deliverables, exclusions, prerequisites, timetable, pricing and points to confirm. Leave missing information visible. Invent no testimonials or numerical gains. Separate options from the base total and specify which lines a discount applies to.
Review and agree the next step
Have one person review the commercial fit and another check delivery feasibility. Ensure your team can meet the commitments. The final page should identify a simple next action: choose an option, resolve questions or arrange a discussion.
Archive the sent version. Later revisions should make scope and price changes visible rather than silently replacing the earlier document. Download the proposal brief, then prepare the discussion with our sales-meeting guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can the proposal be generated automatically? A draft can be automated, but the amounts, terms and commitments still need appropriate review.
How do I make it persuasive? Demonstrate an accurate understanding of the need, a credible delivery method and a clear decision. Additional length does not replace these elements.
