Anthropic is bringing Cowork and Claude chat closer together through a gradual rollout. Older Desktop-only or local-VM instructions may not describe your current interface. Read the current getting-started guide and check your account before paying for a particular capability.

Availability can depend on the plan, surface and organization settings. A general announcement does not imply identical menus for every user on the same day. For local files, follow the supported application workflow and begin with a dedicated test folder.

Prices displayed by Anthropic

The official pricing page displays US-dollar amounts before applicable tax. An annual plan is paid upfront; its monthly equivalent is not monthly billing.

These are the displayed prices at the review date, not a guaranteed local-currency quote. Taxes, purchase channels and terms can vary. Read your checkout summary. The Free plan helps explore Claude but does not guarantee access to every agentic-work capability.

Do not translate limits into a fixed task count

A message allowance is not a fixed number of reports or spreadsheets. Context length, tools, model and task complexity affect consumption. A short request and a large document folder are not comparable units.

Higher Max usage levels do not mean every task will run proportionally faster or produce proportionally better output. Consult the plan-selection guidance and the usage indicators in your account.

Separate application and API costs

Do not assume that an application subscription covers every API call. Some terms may include credits or special options; check their scope, expiry and charges beyond the allowance. Development usage needs its own budget controls.

Before enabling additional consumption, identify the limit encountered and estimate the cost. A temporary blockage is not sufficient evidence that you need a larger recurring commitment.

Choose using representative tasks

Test a meeting record, document report and spreadsheet analysis. Measure preparation, errors, review time and limits. Choose the smallest plan that meets your criteria. A larger quota does not remove verification work.

Use a simple cost record: subscription, additional charges and correction effort. In a fictional example, the subscription costs 20 budget units and four outputs require two hours of review. Without valuing the time and comparing the manual workflow, you cannot establish a return on investment.

For a team, include administration, data access and approval requirements. Seat price is only one selection criterion. Start with fictional documents before expanding access.
